Tune: Louvan
('Lord of all being, throned afar')
1 Peter 1 v.18-21
********
Christ-child to earth did come for all
All may be saved who on Him call
Not corruptible things redeem
But by Christ's blood, its high esteem
Not silver or gold, cannot pay
Not open up to us heaven's way
'Tis only Christ, by His life free
Given, that we delivered be
That precious blood, it does atone
It be sufficiency alone
To cleanse, forgive, ransom each one
He has true salvation's work done
Blood of Christ, He a lamb, no spot
Innocent, guiltless, sinless lot
Taking our sins, my sins, that we
Forgiven, new life may have, see
No blemish, defect, offering
Sacrifice of self did He bring
Giving His life, it foreordained
To heal in each one's life sin-stained
Now He be revealed, and on cross
Did pay price to redeem our loss
By Him we do in God believe
Christ as our Saviour we receive
God did raise Him up from the dead
Gave Him glory, our living Head
So that our faith and hope might be
In God throughout eternity

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. Long Metre (LM). I used the same Scripture verses recently, but have set them to a different tune this time.
