In this, our brief day of life upon earth;
You, upon whom the sun now rises,

We meet as two travelers passing,
Both on a path of their own;

Mine strewn with unfulfilled dreams.
My genetic code lives within you;
Please excuse the abnormal strands,

- Comment from author about the poem: This one, I wrote a while back, was recalled by Fred's poem of yesterday about "unfulfilled dreams". It is appropriate in light of a brand new granddaughter born last Thursday, on my birthday no less!
