Every day you learn something new
And this must be so,
It increases your experience.
It might be of interest,
Or maybe not.
But all these new facts
Are consigned to your memory.
The downside at my age
Is that my brain is so full of facts
That when a new one is stored afresh
An older one falls off the other end.
So when I am then asked about it,
The memory is gone.
Age has many benefits,
But it also has many drawbacks,
Many of which I’ve forgotten.

- Comment from author about the poem: Getting older is wonderful, but there is the odd hitch with age, remembering some things is one of them.

A fine write Gold. Yet we might remember earlier days and years more than more recent ones, so some say.
Probably quite true Bert.
I expect so Alan. We've lost the plot!
I know the problems well - and whatever you learn you forget it all when you die - or do you? Great work Andy.
In dieing it all comes back as your Spirit goes on to eternity.
Thank you Michael.
Thank you Goldfinch60.
A wonderful poem.
Knowledge is power but I agree with you with so much information available at our fingertips information overload is a problem.
Keep writing in 2018

Thank you FineB.
There is no way that I would stop writing, it is my drug of choice.
Ingenious, Goldfinch! Now I know why I don't remember, and why I tell my kids that I forgot more than they will ever know!
Thanks Fred. There is another way of getting around what you tell others. I was at a dinner party with friends and one of them was asked about something and his reply was "I have not yet committed that to my memory"
Good one, Goldfinch, now if I could only remember it!
