One More.
Oh for a yesterday
when moments of lavishly ripe
excitement flew
white sails of high-hope making
horizons glorious.
Where rich and expectant, life
scribed a metaphor,
when readiness was enough to
light futures for two.
Nothing then but tides of daily
close contact
when love lustily climbed up to
unexplored shores.
Where one well-planned holiday
waited for more,
and waves of rapture drowned
in impatient passion.
Oh for yesterday
when racing we sped away from
fixed moorings,
left tracks of habit and sailed our
own galaxy.
We thought reaching land would
make life fantastic
yet implacable fate had its hand
in our plotting for sure.
Two stars plied, without fanfare
their poetic notes,
danced on the prospective brink
of desire coming true.
But all became thwarted by loss
of effect when you,
thrown overboard suddenly had
no chance of tomorrow.
Oh for one more yesterday.

Beautiful emotive write Fay.
A fine lot of yesterdays Fay.
Reminds me of a song lyric:
"Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away, now it seems as if they're her to stay, I believe in yesterday".
A beautiful, emotive write, Fay!
Beautiful write
My Dear Poetess Fay...
A sensitive and beautiful reminder of our yesterdays gone by! ...and then the reality of it all...
These are the words that speak to me at this time...
...“thrown overboard suddenly had
no chance of tomorrow “...
Now we have the memories!
Great pic!
~Laura~
This really touched me emotionally, good write.
Fay, you have a way of expressing life in beautiful terms, both the good and the bad. I think we all sometimes long for yesterday, especially if it involves a loved one who is not with us anymore. While we cannot turn the time back, we do have the memories!
YESTERDAY ~ LOVE WAS SUCH AN EASY GAME TO PLAY ~ Oh I remember yesterday ............. ! I love your nostalgic poems FAY ~ but they make me CRY ~ Saved as Favourite ! Yours as always BRIAN
