way poem #01: with your assistance

Frank Prem

goodnight mama
I’m going to walk that way

bye bye my papa
I’ve got to walk that way

onto the path that’s waiting
I’m ready to walk that way

don’t cry
don’t miss me
we’ve all got to walk that way

and I have seen you
this one time
now I can walk that way

will you help me

will you hold
my hand

will you stay awake at my side
while I am sleeping
while I am walking
when I am leaving
when I go

help me
help me to walk
that way

The bonds that always exist - help me to make my way - superb write Frank.

Cheers Michael. This was the first of the series. They take on a life and direction of their own, sometimes.

      Good write Frank.

Good write, we must each make our way but in the knowledge that those who care for us will always be there.

A good way forward GF. Cheers.

            Welcome

          • Louis Gibbs

Intriguing poem, Frank. I interpret it as the death request of a child on the path to the other side of the veil. Well penned!

            • Frank Prem

Thanks Louis. I think the piece was touched off by a debate that was being held over here around assisted dying and I was trying to get my head around some things that were being said.

We now have legislation in place that should take effect this year.

              • Louis Gibbs

I hope the legislation allows this humane practice.

                • Frank Prem

Yes it does. Lots of caveats, but basically it will be possible to choose die in future.
