Tune: Trentham
(one tune to 'Breathe on me, breath of God')
James 4 v.13-18
********
Consider, you who say
We shall do so today
Of this and that, whate'er we please
What with us all agrees
You say a year you shall
Continue there, do well
And gain and profit true surely
Whate'er will be, will be
Yet sure you do not know
If any thing be so
Not e'en tomorrow's matters see
You know not what shall be
Your life a vapour is
Thus be assured of this
That it appears a little time
Then is gone from life's rhyme
For this you ought to say
'If the Lord will', and pray
So shall we live and do His will
Safe in His presence still
But here if you rejoice
In boastings of your choice
'Tis all evil, good you not do
So 'tis sin unto you

BREATH ON ME BREATH OF GOD ~ An awesome Prayer ~ Hymn ~ BUT we have to be careful what we ask for ~ GOD could answer such a Prayer and then hold us to it ! Love JAMES a very practical BOOK ~ Boast not thyself of tomorrow ~ GOD alone knows what a Day may bring forth ! In California ~ one day giving thanks that you were not burned alive and the next drowning in the MUD ! Remember ABERVAN ~ A terrible way to go ~ I have read about it and visited the cemetery ~ so many Young Children drowned in a fluidised slag heap. CARPE DIEM ~ it may be your last ! Thanks ~ for a thought provoking HYMN & POEM ~ Yours BRIAN
