Leaning out from the railing
He looks straight down
The water mesmerizing him
Beckoning to him
Shushed promises
To take away the pain
Luring him into aegis
Like stepping back into
The safety of mothers womb
Holding on to the railing
He looks up, wants to see
The night-sky one more time
Before taking that final step
A shooting star blazes across
The dark and star filled sky
He is stunned, nearly loses his grip
Hugs the railing to his chest
Like a father hugs a baby
Never wanting to let go
Then climbs over the railing
To the safety of the bridge
Disoriented and confused
His mind is drawn to the water
But held back by the light
He turns, and slowly walks away
Another soul saved by the light

In the final analysis, 'the light', which we all are a part of, is all that there really is ... it is everything. A wonderful metaphor, Fred!
Thanks Louis, and a metaphor it is! Thank you for understanding!
Beautiful write
Thank you Tony!
Welcome
Well written with a great conclusion - a real worthy piece Fred.
Thanks Michael, glad you think so!
A telling piece with first rate metaphor - -light indeed can come suddenly to change lives. Thanks for posting this Fred.
Thanks Fay! I have never been in such a situation, but I do believe that most people will grab at any straw that will offer hope in order not to do what they intended to do. (Kind of convoluted, but I wanted to get around the 'S' word!
Wonderful imagery!
Thanks draculazy! It is basically story telling!
Right Write.
Nice work!
Mahalo EP, appreciate your comment!

Thanks Goldfinch! Yes, that is what I believe!
