Tune: Song 46
('Drop, drop, slow tears')
Psalm 37 v.34-40
********
Wait on the LORD, and ever keep His way
He shall exalt you, bring you light of day
Exalt you to inherit the land, see
Wicked shall be cut off, shall no more be
Though I did wicked see once in great power
Spreading themselves like green bay tree each hour
Yet did they pass away, and they were not
Found, though I sought them, gone was all their lot
Mark those perfect, those whole, mature, upright
Their end is peace, they shall live in God's sight
But sinners shall be cut off, not abide
But God with the righteous He shall reside
The salvation of the righteous it is
Of the LORD, He their strength, they do know this
Their strength in the time of trouble for sure
The LORD shall help, deliver them e'ermore
Shall deliver them from the wicked, see
And save them, for their trust in Him it be

Oh man, ortchie, I am not perfect (hard to believe though), I am not righteous (I am a lefty), and to top it all off, I am a sinner. So here i go, floating free, all cut off!
Ahh thanks Fred. I wondered: Who is perfect? I think it means in a sense of being mature, whole, etc - bit like the sherry before I add water to it!
Arrggh, hope you're not cut off! I think that means continuing in sins and not changing at all. There's hope for us all! The Psalm contrast the good and the wicked - who often bothered King David in his life and times!
THANKS STEVE ~ Loved DROP DROP ~ not familiar with it ~ There is a lot in 2018 we should be lamenting over ~ but thanks be to GOD he is still SOVEREIGN. Loved the Poem based on PSALM 37 ~ A great blessing ~ Yours in the SPIRIT ~ BRIAN
Thanks Brian. Yes, a bit of a lamenting tune to this, though I tried out a 10.10. metre of two lines per stanza here.
Well written and expressed. AMEN
Thanks Tony.
