ODE TO A BATTERY HEN !

BRIAN & ANGELA

BATTERY HEN UNIT IN GERMANY !

IF YOU are really Naughty

And break rules NOW & THEN

You'll be reincarnated

As a poor old Battery Hen !

Now Hens are lovely creatures

They start out as little Chicks

Cute yellow balls of fluff ~ that strut

And do a thousand tricks !

When it's reincarnation time

Do not be deluded ~ never tick

The box marked "CHICK"

Cos "Battery Hens" included !

Once you're past the Chicken stage

You're in for a shock

They stick you in a tiny cage

You never see the COCK !

They clip your wings and tie your legs

You cannot FLY or STRUT

Your only role is LAYING EGGS

The nice "Free Range" is SHUT !

You LAY until your dying day

Sad and emaciated

Don't even become a Sunday Lunch

Neck wrung AND then cremated !

Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN

Only buy "Free Range Eggs" better still keep CHUCKS

in your own Backyard and give them plenty of TLC !

You never know one might be your GRANNY ~ XOXOX

  • Comment from author about the poem: The World Human Population is 7.5 Billion and increasing by millions every week ! Most people are carnivores and there is an increasing demand for high grade protein such as EGGS ! God created Animals with feelings & rights and Battery Farms are very UNAVIAN ! The cramped conditions these Hens live under are worse than Concentration Camps. Support your local Farmers and be prepared to pay a little extra for "Free Range" meat and eggs and use more VEGETABLES ~ You know it all makes sense ! Love to ALL especially GAGED ANIMALS & HUMANS ~ BRIAN ~ XOXOX

Well, I dunno about the reincarnation bit, but good write Brian. There's a British Hen Welfare Trust (BHWT) Charity.
Also I received some Christmas news written by a talking hen apparently - some friends keep them! lol

THANKS STEVE ~ Yes they are supported an make good PETS. Children love then because they can REAR them from Chicks ~ learn to feed and clean them and of course the bonus is "Free Range Eggs !" My Granddad tells me many people in WW2 (1939 ~ 45) kept chucks in the back yard for the EGGS and the OVEN ! Yours BRIAN

          Welcome

Thanks "O" you make a very good point here ! UURBANISATION has a lot to answer for ! 50% of the human race (3.7 billion) now live in Cities ! The City Dweller concentrates on making MONEY and has little feeling for nature ! He loves his "nest egg" so he wants his "battery hens egg" as cheap a possible ! Please check my FUSION on Months ~ Thanks BRIAN

Well done and eye opening with that picture! I love free range eggs. It's worth the price. And worth reading this wonderful poem! Sisterly hugs--Christina

YES INDEED ~ CHRIS ~ The picture reminded me of AUSCHWITZ (which I have visited with my Students) but I didn't mention that because it upsets the Germans. Humans and Animals were "BORN FREE" not to be locked in cages ! You have plenty of space in the USA so everything can be free range ! Pleased you enjoyed it ~ and got the message ! I want to reincarnated as a Cheeky Monkey and you as a Cute Panda ~ Brotherly Hugs ~ BRIAN @@@@@@@ Please add to my MONTH FUSION ~ Thanks B.

            Mio Caro Amico BRIAN...
            Hai ragione...youā€™re right...!
            Free range all the way!
That pic is ā€œsomething elseā€! Painful indeed!
            Thank you for this share!
            Un forte abbraccio e Baci...
            ~Laura~
