There it sits in front of the artist;
It could be a blank canvas,
It could be a lump of stone,
But with me
It is a blank sheet of paper.
Where do we start?
That first brushstroke sets the scene,
The first tap of chisel on stone
Can create the work,
The first word I write
Leads me into a new world.
Each artist, sculptor or poet
Releases their hearts
Into their creations,
All are different
But they all come from the same place,
They all come from within,
Within the mind,
Within the heart,
Within the soul,
From within the artist.

- Comment from author about the poem: Of course music is art as well and this is so beautifully portrayed by the King Singers in the video.

A true write Gold. Sometimes it distracts me if I think of writing for others, to please them, as it were.
It's best where I am original. I mean we ought not to write, paint, sculpt, etc, to try to please others, if that means we restrict ourselves.
Ohh, got headache now. All that thinking this time of morning!

Very true, to get the pleasure out of your chosen art form it must be done for yourself. Thanks Orchi.
Spot on Andy - the most difficult paintings I do are the commissions where in order to remain faithful to the subject I have to limit artistic licence which in turn affects artistic interpretation.
Thank you Michael, I am fortunate in that most of the poetry that I write is for me although I occasionally ask people to give me a subject on which to write but even then it is my words about that subject.
Wonderful write!
Thank you Aislinn, much appreciated.
Creativity comes from within, indeed, but usually assisted by a muse, who deserves some of the credit to my thinking. Excellent write, Goldie!
I have written about my muse previously and Calliope is looking down at me from a picture where I write my poetry.
Totally agree, Goldie! Artistsā creations amaze me! I will never forget the first time I saw Michelangeloās PIETĆ! I was only ten years old...many moons ago...and still remember that feeling! An awesome write! Enjoyed it very much!
~Laura~
These works if art do just get into your soul, when I first saw the works of William Holman Hunt they just blew me away, I can now see peopleās souls Iām all kinds of art.
I can see why you can!
Iām particularly fond of the painting THE AWAKENING CONSCIENCE! A fascinating painting!
Great write
Thank you Tony, most kind.
Welcome
Your great poem is right on, Goldie!
While the impetus may come from the outside, turning it into a work of art does come from inside!
Thank you Fred. It surely does come from inside of us.
