Tuesday Night at Emile's: the way to leave them

Frank Prem

on a night like this

you’ve got to hug your words

got to make them warm
before you let them go
because

the crowd is in

looking for a show
you’re on first

you want to
let them know
that it’s
worth it
that you’re worth it
that what you’ve got
is what they want to take home
when they leave

never mind

the headline act

never mind

the coughers
the talkers
the late ones coming in
with their lack of
tact

make them

focus

listen

make them want to want you
to stay awhile
hear you give
a little more

like a short encore

to salute them

make them love you
give your heart away

if they’ll listen

pay attention

then bow your way backstage
while they still need what you’re offering

that’s the way

to leave them

hungry

for some more

more of you

A bit like when I'm giving a demonstration to an art group - fine write Frank.

It's a little like burlesque, this. The slow reveal. Leave them hungry, every time.
