Once more it happened,
That grin came to me
As the first notes flowed.
This man with his instrument,
He played notes of such power,
Notes of such gentleness,
That I was in his world,
His world of Jazz.
Within moments
The evening had gone,
As time became non-existent,
The man with his clarinet
Took me to the place,
The place where time had disappeared,
All I had was the memory,
The memory of the sounds,
The sounds that glorified my soul
And took me to a better world.

- Comment from author about the poem: Last night I went to the Jazz Club that I go to every month and they had a group playing called The Adrian Cox Quartet; Clarinet, Piano, Bass and Drums. They were absolutely wonderful, I have never seen a clarinet played so well, the skill Adrian had was phenomenal. It was one of the best Jazz evenings that I have had. Thank you Adrian.

A fine write Gold. No trace of me there singing to that jazz? That would have ruined everything! lol.
Thanks Orchi.
Thanks for the wonderful "wakeup" music this morning Goldfinch....
My pleasure, have a good day.
A perfect description of what music can do when listened to Goldi - - I have had that feeling when listening to sax or clarinet revealing the true lure of jazz.
Thank you Fay, it is a wonderful feeling.
I did a watercolour workshop today - quite demanding - and in the car on the way home put on Einaudi - so relaxing it took me to another world - (had to reset the sat nav - only joking) so yes I know exactly what your poem is saying so well.
Yes I like Einaudi as well, and I agree he is relaxing.
It was Divenire - we saw him play it in concert a few years back - magic.
While I generally prefer a saxophone over a clarinet, this player was absolutely amazing! You expressed that well in your poem!
Thank you Fred, I have not heard anyone play a clarinet like him and I have heard a few in my time.
