Light in Chaos.

Goldfinch60

Chaos is all around us,

Darkness hides the way,

But I know that all is well,

As I can see the light.

The light dismisses chaos,

And makes the dark flee.

A fine write Gold. Made me think of: 'The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it'. Or in some versions...'the darkness comprehended it not', or 'understood it not' (John 1 v.5).

Thank you Orchi. This poem came quite by chance. I went to Church on Friday to go to a meeting "Developing a 5 year strategy for the Church" . On a Friday our church holds a short 20 minute 'Shoppers Service", the meeting was after the Service so I decided to go to the Service as well. The preacher, one of our retired Ministers, took the service, his preaching has always been very good and in his Sermon he spoke of Light dismissing darkness. This was right up my street and it came to me that the meeting I would attend had nothing to do why I went to it, I was being called to hear those words.
I went to the meeting anyway, another hour and a half of my life wasted!

Arrghh, not 'meetings' or 'committees'! And yet I did about 5 years as Minute Secretary for a Parochial Church Council (PCC). What did they do at your meeting? Just bumble through things? What is the 5 year strategy? Or is it clear as mud?! I saw TV programme about couple of Vicars. One was bit crotchety - a former School Master!

        Then again there's:
        'Thou whose almighty word
        Chaos and darkness heard
        And took their flight'.......

I really like this poem, Goldie! And one does not have to be religious to believe in it. That light actually can come from anywhere. Chaos is the regular state of affairs, we just have to see through it!

Thank you Fred and very true, religion does not necessarily have anything to do with us dispelling the chaos and the darkness.
