WHITE STUFF.

Fay Slimm.

WHITE STUFF.

Silently falling,
snow covers windows,
clouds frown in angry accord
and I look forward
to the time when it thaws.

;;; ;; ;
;; ;

Rare in Cornwall
wnen grass becomes hoared
with frost and Tessa-dog
cannot run madly outdoors
like me she gets bored.

;;; ;; ;
;; ;

Today's walk calling
I welcome the forecast that
cold will soon warm
so coated and ready in hall
we do not dawdle.

;;; ;; ;
;; ;

Yet when opened is door
and Tess rushes snow-ward
her racing falters
as slipping and sliding canine
excitement stalls
in surprise at ice-coated paws
and slyly creeps towards
hearthrug once more.

;;; ;; ;
;; ;

Cold-weather unordered
my Tessa prefers fireside roars
to hugging that icy-white
stuff now piling up outdoors.

    Thanks FAY for another excellent Poem and a lovely picture of TESSA ! Dogs make excellent thermometers and barometers as well ! Yours as always BRIAN WE had a bit of snow yesterday (Monday) cold & dry today

    • Fay Slimm.

      Yes -- Tess showed me she was not a dog of cold snow - ha ha -- so pleased you liked the fun write Brian. - - Stay warm my friend and thanks for your comment.

      I counted about twenty flakes this morning, that is more than enough for me! You had better ensure that the fire is kept going for Tessa.

        Not 21 flakes Gold, or the country will grind to a halt!

        • Fay Slimm.

          I certainly will dear Goldi - - that little Tessa keeps me well on my toes regarding her love of warmth. Hope you miss the rest of those snowflakes my friend.

          Nice write and pic Fay. I saw a seire: 'you know you're getting old when....' We could add '....when we leave the snow for children and dogs to enjoy!'

          • Fay Slimm.

            Ha ha - I agree dear Orchi with that - - thanks for the comment.

            ~Laura~

            P.S.- Just heard the weather report...snow is headed my way!

            • Fay Slimm.

              Ah - - so pleased you noticed my attempt at snowflakes dear Laura - - a fun-write today brought on by Tessa's display of disgust at the white stuff.......... thanks so much for your comment.

              I hope for Spring for you soon as I do for us. Cute poem!

              • Fay Slimm.

                Only a sprinkling but enough to set Tessa's nose tingling with cold - - ha h a -- thanks Christina and hope it warms up for you too soon.

                Really like your 'fun' poem, Fay! I think that sometimes dogs are smarter than us, who wants to run around in the cold if one could sit all comfy in front of that roaring fire!

                  Ha ha - Oh I agree Fred - canines can teach us all a thing or two - on sight and smell and pure instinct. Thanks a lot for the comment my friend.
