(c) 2018 Edward York
I met you when you were young,
You had a smile across your face.
It always seemed to fit you,
And you wore it every place.
We certainly had our struggles,
But you handled them with flair.
No matter what was inside,
That smile was always there.
I watched that girl in amazement,
As you worked till you were numb.
Not knowing then it would be part,
Of the woman you'd become.
Through loss and death we managed,
And financial woes as well.
If your heart was filled with stresses,
No one could ever tell.
Most of our days have passed us,
We don't focus on the clock.
I know that through our struggles,
You always remain my rock.

loving the ending to this '' you will always remain my rock '' good piece of writing .. enjoyed
My favorite line to her is, "It's you and me against the world."
Laser,
The respect and reverence for the woman you love is so beautifully expressed in your poem! Absolutely divine!

Humans go through so many stages in life from birth through the journey to the final road. She and I have traveled most of them together.
Super loving write Edward, I have one of those as well!
We take the first step by realizing how fortunate we are. I am glad you know.
Thanks Laserjet! Your poem made me smile.
The world needs more smile, far too rare. I am glad you liked.
I hope she has read this Ed.
She has. She reads most of my stuff. I try to let her see the appreciation.
And I'm sure she does Ed.
