My Sins

FredPeyer

Once again I visited the graveyard

Of my sins, wrongs, and disregard

Tombstones of transgressions past

Of relationships that did not last

Chiseled in stone for me to see

Akin to neon lights on a marquee

Haunting memories of yore

A part of me I best abhor

Yet am now forced to meet

In order never to repeat

Filled with shame and regret

Inconceivable ever to forget

Maybe forgiven, I agree

These sins are forever part of me

All the good and all the bad

All joys and trials I ever had

All the hell I had to pay

Made me who I am today

I believe Fred, that if you've learned lessons from your past mistakes and made progress towards acting on what you've learned, then you have been forgiven. But...you must forgive yourself. Great write my friend.

Thank you AP! You are so right, and I did forgive myself!

A great work Fred and must agree with Diamond - the last four lines are magic in the way they sum it all up.

Thanks so much Michael. RE last for lines, see my answer to Diamond.

Very good write Fred, in our lives we make mistakes but those mistakes teach us and those teachings are our experience which cannot be taught by others. All we can do is accept them and move forward knowing we will not make them again.

Thanks so much Goldie! Yes, you are right. The past is the past. Cannot change. But we can try to make good.

Good write Frank. yet sins can be forgiven, and then they are 'no more'. But not in the sense of 'I will sin; I can be forgiven later anyway'.
Meanwhile - my life is made up of all the pork pies I've scoffed, and the sherries I've knocked back! lol.
