The Sailor's Farewell

Lorna

Hoist the sail, slip the mooring, swiftly sail away

There's nothing left to do here

There's nothing left to say

The seas were smooth, the seas were rough

The gales blew weak and strong

But many the days of sunshine

And many the friendly throng

The crowd on the bank is shrinking

As I turn with some remorse

But the vast horizon looming

Sets me on another course

So with a smile and a last wave

I turn to take the wheel

I leave my heart behind me

As I tack into the wind

Strangely calming, as if it's saying that no matter what happens or where you go in life, you must move on.
    Nice.

    Sadly that's true isn't it............

The art of leaving behind things of the past put so succinctly in this lovely verse - thank you for sharing both image and words with us Lorna.

Very imageful (c. M.E.) indeed. Speaks of the sailor in all of us and the many voyages we must take. Thanks for sharing this, Lorna

      Lorna,
      A beautiful nostalgic(for me)visual and write!
A bit sad, but also hopeful!
