Thanks LORNA ~ I teach Applied Science in an Adult College to 17 ~ 30 tear old students ! Some of our Premed Students become RADIOGRAPHERS so we keep up to date with the latest Therapies and our student do placements in Hospitals ! Because I am a Scientist (Biochemist) I am very interested in all advances in Medical Science. Radiography is a very interesting and important Career for Empathetic Young People ! Older patients need a lot of TLC & Reassurance ~ Yours BRIAN

YES ! Marie Curie is Polish and could not study Science in WARSAW ~ because she was Lady ~ so she came to the Sorbonne in Paris. Her Husband PIERRE was her Lecturer in Physics ~ He suggested to his Professor ~ Becquerel ~ that Marie should undertake a PhD in "Radiation studies" Marie & Pierre isolated RADIUM & POLONIUM and they received a Noble Prize in Physics in 1906 ! Pierre was weakened by RADIATION and was killed by a Horse & Cart travelling (a pied) between the Lab & the Library ! Marie was promoted from Lab Technician to Professor of Physics and continued to work on RADIOACTIVITY (Her Word !) She was awarded a Nobel Prize in Chemistry (1913) (The only person with TWO NP's in Science !) She died of LEUKEMIA aged 63 ~ due to her unprotected work on RADIOACTIVITY ! Yours BRIAN

THANKS CHRIS ~ In essence People are afraid of what they don\'t know about RADIOACTIVITY ~ It is not too difficult. Certain ISOTOPES of specific elements like URANIUM decay by releasing RAYS and transmute into other elements ! Unfortunately the decay series end up as LEAD & not GOLD ! Alpha rays are He2+ beta rays are ELECTRONS and gamma rays are HIGH ENERGY ! I give talks to SENIORS & LADIES GROUPS on Radioactivity and Nuclear Power Stations to convince them they are SAFE ~ The USA & the UK should aim for 50% Nuclear to reduce CO2 emissions ! I Have a friend who has recently gone through this and the NHS really came into its own - can't understand why the States are so against a nationalised health service.

Thanks FAY ~ pleased you enjoyed it ! Many people are ignorant about Radioactivity and Radiotherapy. They are against Nuclear Power Stations and encourage use of Fossil Fuel which is killing the PLANET ! Aslo they refuse Radiotherapy ! In my talks to Student & Seniors etc and some of my Poems ~ I try to redress the Balance ! Yours as ever BRIAN !
