Forgiveness

Like a bud of a rose that first sprouts

You come into life with beauty

Love and protection is promised to you

But you soon unfold and things go array

Troubled hearts of both of us take us about

I never wish this journey on anyone

I soon see dark roads ahead with much anger

Even as I see a beautiful heart start to crack

I continue to look another way even in tears

Even at early times I ask for forgiveness

But it’s too late and both hearts hurt with tears

Full bloom and you missed a lot how could it be

Both hearts hurt because of broken promises

Your journey became a dark road with anger

We continue our journey through life but different roads

It now hurts more than a physical pain

I long to see your face but you have no desire for me

I now have grown old and wait for just a glance

Through prayer and begging God I now await

I beg for forgiveness and wished it would be different

I truly never stopped loving you but made wrong decisions

I know you will never know how I feel

I understand your anger and how lost you are

I hope for answered prayers of forgiveness

Days go by and know your troubled roads

I blame myself even if others say to not

How could I of done this to my own sprout

Each night as I pray I know what I have done

I hope to go home with forgiveness when time comes

I will always love you and keep you close to my heart

I love you my sprout and wished it could have been different

A shadow of light

how strange life is and how easy it is to suffer and hurt. no true parent would want an offspring to suffer. But we are human, we are fragile and very incapable of perfection. I know the pain that makes our loved one, innocent victims of our unhappy choices. But we are human, we are vulnerable, we are weak and we stumble and fall. No mistake, unless deliberately done, is done to harm. And even if we were so blind and selfish, we are but dust on this atom of evil which is earth and the mercy of God, if you are a believer, or the voice of reason, if you are not, will always be greater than any harm inflicted without intention. Nothing really gets lost in the beauty of unconditional love. Very deep poem. it kept me grasping to the end.

WELCOME TO MPS MISS AGGIE ~ Thanks for your first Poem ! FORGIVENESS is a difficult subject for a Poem but you described it brilliantly ! It took a long Poem and I like long & continuous narrative Poems ! You start by outlining the cause ~ then you ask forgiveness but it is nor reciprocated. You continue to offer Love & Forgiveness. This is also my reaction to one of my own ~ but ~ it ends UNREQUITED ! Yours final line is very sad and one we all utter in our experience of Family Life & Love: "I love you my sprout and wished it could have been different". Every Blessing ~ Thank you for sharing ~ Yours BRIAN (UK)

Thank you for your beautiful comment. I made one mistake in life and this was the way to express it. I will never be able to correct it. My love for my child will always be imbedded in my heart.
