They Tore Me Down

They Tore Me Down

They tore me down,

They took me from my roots,

They replaced me with a building,

I got destroyed and never got regrown,

I was tossed around and never planted back.

The feeling of being chopped down,

The horrible smell of the burning wood.

Men in yellow hard hats surrounded me.

Is this what it feels like to be a tree?

To be cut down and taken away?

They take nature for granted,

They don’t appreciate it.

Maybe this will change and no other

tree will go through this.

It all started from being torn down.

WELCOME CORAL Thanks for your first Poem. Well penned and a very powerful plea fort he preservation of TREES ! In England (UK) were I live thousands of Trees have preservation orders on them and they cannot be felled ! But of course thousands of trees are felled every day for Timber ~ Fuel and Land Clearance etc. Every tree is precious because they inhale CO2 and exhale Oxygen ! So for every tree we chop down w should plant 2 more. Less than 10% of the UK is Forest ! Woodman spare that tree for ME ~ in the USA it is 50%
