SO MANY WARS

Michael Edwards

SO MANY WARS

Some are summoned

some volunteer

for the love of their country

or a glorious career.

So many wars

are futile in concept.

Do they understand

do they ever ask why

it is asked of them

to fight and die?

So many wars

are futile in action.

Those that return

do they ever dwell

on the purpose behind

why so many fell.

So many wars

are futile in outcome.

So many wars.

    Spiritual wars

    • Michael Edwards

Yes indeed - so many have been and are fuelled by false beliefs. And I guess so it always will be.

        Well said : ]

As you say Michael 'So many wars' and in those wars the innocent die while those who started them still live in the castles in the air as far away from the fighting as can be.

        • Michael Edwards

And in so many the outcome has not been of benefit to mankind - all so pointless.

hello michael.. i like how you questioned the purpose to these wars..how is it right , for people , to fight and die, it isn't, never will be

          • Michael Edwards

So right - even when an evil exists war is rarely if ever the answer. I can't think of a war in my lifetime where the outcome has benefited mankind - and at such a needless cost.

            • Violet bluebell( used to be yellow rose)

its strange... fight and die, where does that get anybody.... yes, needless.

A fine write Michael. Inspired by your lamenting the other day?

              • Michael Edwards

oh yes - lament switch in the on position - must turn it off - painting all day today - in fact giving a demonstration to an art group this morning so that'll cheer me up - of finish me off..!!

Good wishes for that M! So, not practising 'dark' pictures!

                  Michael,
                  A great write and painting!
                  Unfortunately, there will
                  always be wars! My great
uncle died in a war! My
                  father would always tell
                  us what he went through
when he served in the army!
                  Big or small, wars destroy!

                  ~Laura~

Oh so good Michael and so sad. Practically babies when they are marched off to die....... Your picture is outrageously wonderful this morning - You have chosen my favorite colors for a blast of color....

                  • Michael Edwards

Thank you Lorna - a bit of sweet and sour I guess - pleased you like them both.

                  • Fay Slimm.

Such true words embody the futility of war caused by false beliefs in this powerful read Michael.

                    • Michael Edwards

Thank you Fay - sadly evil surfaces and another war begins

                    • dusk arising

War - the original 'weapon of mass destruction'. My dictionary would show war as 'a crazed interlude of violence, murder, rhetoric and attempted annihilation which precedes a period of peace'.
