Ocean's Guns.
Ocean crosses curved world,
pulls in its waters
as earth's ebb and fall tides
hold back flooding
from land's bolstered sides
so life carries on
despite all crashes and cries
of roller- destruction
and coastal village survives
against ocean's guns
because the fisher-folk fight
to keep boats on shore
when waves become mighty.

Good write. Those fisher folk are some of the bravest in the world.
Many thanks Goldi for this fine comment on the role played by those who daily brave the sea.
Oh yes...the mighty
ocean’s guns that the
fishermen must fight...
Indeed they must!
A fine write, my dear Fay!
Metaphorically rich!
Great title!
~Laura~
I am leased the read meant so much to you Laura - these fine people who face the sea daily need recognition and thank you so much for your thoughts on the poem.
Paints the scene so well - love the line: from land's bolstered sides. Great work Fay
Yes Michael the metaphor about land versus water was apt and glad it appealed to you. Thanks for the comment.
Fay
You have such a way with words and images. Such is the power of the waters, but 'fisher-folk' have to survive.
nicely penned
Michael 🙂
