THE ORWELL BRIDGE ~ IPSWICH SUFFOLK (UK) ~ AWESOME
Athens and Berlin and Cuzco
Dungannon ~ Essen and Frenso
Granada ~ Houston and Ipswich
Jarrow ~ Kirov and Limerick !
Mecca ~ Natal and Oporto
Paris ~ Quebec and Reggio
Spokane ~ Torquay and Ullapool
Vladivostok and Wuppertool
Xian and Yunnan and Zapan !
Thanks for "visiting" ~ coments welcome ~ Love BRIAN
STRUCTURE: ABCDarian (Alphabet) Poems are fun and
are often just a list ~ Q X & Z always present a problem !
In the case of Cities Q X & Z are not a problem therefore
I decided to invoke two important elements that give any
Poem its FLOW ~ I am a Performance Poet. These key
elements are Rhyme & Rhythm ! Each line is written in
Iambic Tetrameter (8 syllables per line) and the Rhyme
Pattern is Rhyming Doublets (aa bb cc etc). Some of the
Rhymes are (whaat we call) HALF RHYMES (Cuzco and
Frenso etc) There are only nine lines (to accommodate
26 Cities) so the final line has Internal Rhyme ! To keep
the Rhythm and the Flow. I hope this helps the READER
to understand how the poem was constructed ~ XOXOX

Great flow in this and do like the form - super work Brian.
THANKS MICHAEL ~ For me Flow & Recitibility is the most important factor in a Poem. We have to remember the Oral Tradition and the use of Poetry to pass the SAGAS to the next Generation ORCHI (Steve) will remember ! In my opinion the best and most consistent poet on MPS is FAY ~ Her poems always have an appropriate VISUAL ~ They always scan and often Rhyme as well ! Pleased you enjoyed my attempt at FLOW & GO ~ Yours BRIAN
A fine write Brian. Relatively easy to think of Quebec for Q. Dunno about Wuppertool - where is it? How about Wapping Town (for syllables fit) instead?! lol.
Thanks STEVE ~ Pleased you got the gist of the structure of the Poem ~ iambic tetrameter gives it flow and the Rhyme / Half Rhyme makes it more recitable ! So in the Poem C & F ~ I & L ~ O & R ~ U & W had to rhyme or half-rhyme ~ OK Hence ULLAPOOL (Which is in Scotland) and WUPPERTOOL which is in LA LA LAND ~ Thought you would have known that ! Yours BRIAN
I been looking for Wuppertool on a map for hours! lol.
Very good Brian! I wish I was as creative! That bridge looks wonderful but scary to cross...lol!! Great form! Sisterly hugs-Christina
THANKS CHRIS ~ At SCHOOL I majored in English Literature & Poetry so we wear taught all the Principles of Classic Poetry and the importance of Rhyme & Rhythm which is always evident in your Poems # The secret id to have an idea like an Alphabetical List of Towns and then fit it (that's the difficult part !) into a framework of Rhyme & Rhythm ~ OK Pleased you liked the BRIDGE (it is closed when it's windy) Our Counties in the UK are like US States but 40 times smaller ! I live in ESSEX and to get into the neighbouring COUNTY (SUFFOLK) I have to cross that Bridge ~ Angela & I will be crossing it on Saturday to visit Friends ! YOURS BRIAN Friday Night is ANGELA NIGHT ~ so will talk tomorrow ! Hugs from BROTHER BRIAN "Essex Boy"
