Tune: Lux Benigna
('Lead, Kindly Light')
Colossians 1 v.9-14
********
O Spirit lead me, each time that I pray
What shall I say?
Bless this or that, or him or her, it be
Prayer generally
But to focus, specific things to pray
Teach us, O Lord, what to pray every day
Praying as Paul, desiring people all
Shall hear God's call
That they be filled with knowledge of His will
Rest in truth still
In all wisdom and in all spiritual
Understanding, they safe, and shall not fall
That they may live worthy of the Lord, see
And pleasing be
Unto Him, and in each good work fruitful
Praise Him in all
And increasing in the knowledge of God
Following sure the path His Son has trod
Strengthened with all might, be according to
His power anew
His glorious power, working in each one
His will be done
Strengthened to all patience, longsuffering
With joyfulness, these shall His Spirit bring
Giving thanks to the Father who has made
A way, price paid
Paid by His Son, and so we now made meet
Unto His feet
To come, partakers of inheritance
Of saints in light, by God's grace this our stance
He has delivered us from darkness' power
We every hour
No have been translated into kingdom
Of His Son, done
'Tis the work, for His dear Son us redeemed
Forgiveness through His life-blood to us deemed
