The biscuits before you
Are all that I brought
All that might tempt you
All that you want
I often worry
Do you know I'm still here
That you loved me once
That you held me dear
That together we raced
Through life's halcyon lights
And then found the peace of
The soft summer nights
We had it all then
And I can still hear
The echoes of laughter
Adventures and tears
But time gallops swiftly
We rode past the sun
We outraced the wind
And now your race is done
All that you own
At this moment in time
Is that handful of biscuits
And this heart of mine

Sent shivers down my spine. I like poems like these, some melancholic remembrance of a tale I don't know yet, but may yet come to know later on. It's like the color red trapped in grey. Overwhelmingly simplistic, but overwhelming nonetheless. Well done.
What a lovely comment - thank you.
A poem to send the heart into weep mode dear Lorna - - tenderly appealing and thank you for sharing.
Writing these sad ones is forcing me to face what's coming Fay........ thanks for your comment.

A fine write Lorna. You got those biccies and a nice pot of tea with them?! Soggy biccies, yummy! heehee.
I'm with Michael - like them crisp!
Not sure I like soggy biscuits like Orchi - just hard and crunchy - English biscuits of course.
Seriously Lorna this is a fine work.
I'm a Hobnobs fan myself.............
Good choice
You absolutely melted my heart
Like dunking a shortbread in the cup
So beautiful written I thought of friends that passed, no sadness felt, just dunking with laughs.
Thank you for coming to my tea party, where we all share our biscuits equally with peace and love.

Better days are yet to come Lorna. But a finely crafted piece of work here for sure.
