Tune: Love Unknown
('My song is love unknown')
Luke 22 v.39-46
********
Stay, stay a while and pray
It be dark, not light day
Pray with Jesus, in His hour
Though bitter and sour
Here in Gethsemane's garden
He holds destiny of all men (mankind)
For the spirit it be
Willing to progress free
But flesh it be weak, so
Hindrance our spirits know
Pray one hour with me, He pleads
Here be my time of true great needs
But no, they sleepy were
Did not with Him concur
For disciples did tire
Dim burnt their holy fire
The call was, 'Watch and pray, lest you
Fall into temptation anew'
There in His agony
Christ sweat His blood for me
In garden prayed, so be
Father, if willing, see
This cup of suffering, and take
It from me, another way make
But nevertheless not
My will, but yours my lot
Your will be done, my choice
To e'er obey your voice
Then angels strengthened Him in power
As He went through harrowing hour
Lord, help us your will know
Where easy or hard, so
We trust in you, your way
To be our way each day
Strengthen us too, where faith be small
By your Spirit we prevail all

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.6.6.8.8. metre. Only Luke seems to tell us of Christ 'sweating blood' in His agony. A rare condition called haematidrosis.

Yes we will prevail. Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
A fine write, Orchi!
I enjoyed listening to the video! The female voice sounded like my daughter...beautiful!
Thank you for sharing! Listening to the choir and thinking of my daughter made my day!

Thanks Laura.
Thanks STEVE ~ Love the hymn ~ very challenging. Luke was a Doctor who accompanied PAUL on his Missionary Journeys always useful to have a "Doctor in the House !" He was not an eyewitness to the Crucifixion so he must have got the details from the Disciples and seen the HAEMATIDROSIS as a sign of great agony and suffering ! Lest we forget GETHSEMENE ~ Where CHRIST became obedient to the CROSS and His Father's Will ~ AMEN !
Love the poem ~ Sextets in 3 rhyming couplets is one of my fave poetic structures ! Yours BRIAN
Thanks Brian. could have got technical, and made it 6.6.6.6. 4.4.4.4. but couldn\'t think up many 4-syllable lines!
Another beauty! The season makes it even more beautiful. Thanks
Thanks wc.
