A bit of tradition...
A bit of nostalgia...
This is how I remember this day...
This day my dad called...LA PASQUETTA
He would have gotten that picnic basket ready
With all our favorite foods and his special bottles of wine
And off we would go!
Depending where we were at the time
We would go to the mountains or a park or a beach
or our backyard... location didn’t matter!
It was all about this day off with a picnic al fresco
...Roman-Style...
To celebrate the season with family and friends!

a bottle of wine, cheese and bread can bring so much joy
always welcome

Very sweet of you!
you paint such lovely memories in word a delight to read you again ,,,zigs
A delight to read and a wonderful family tradition. I pray you now share the same with your own family...
I think this a very beautiful poem. It depicts family life in a happy, peaceful and romanticized way. Most of us can relate to your experience of happy memories, even those of us who might have experienced a sad childhood. There will always be a beam of sunlight somewhere, even for us! Your poem is truly uplifting. Now I know what VIVA LA PASQUETTA means. Thank you Laura.
A touching tribute....
Kurt,
Thank you for your visit to my page. So generous of you to take the time from your busy day to do so.
I do miss my dad very much! I think of him every single day! I constantly feel his presence. Very comforting!
~Laura~
P.S.-All the poems on my page were inspired by certain events and people in my life...some positive, some negative...
And that’s how life is..
the good, the bad, and sometimes the ugly!

absolutely delicious.. so good I'm gonna go and fix myself another breakfast and think about my forthcoming visit to Sicily next month... Neville
Neville,
Delicious, indeed!
Glad you enjoyed it!
How was your trip to Sicily?
~Laura~
N.B. - Sorry for the late response!😌
I had a good time.. originally went to try and help out with the fall out from Mount Etna's recent big blow out, when I got there though, there was hardly anything for me to do so we just enjoyed the island and of course the seafood....
absolutely delightful.. not only your poem, but the authors note ... am just going to eat a slice of toast outside in the snow..... N x
Neville,
Many thanks for the second read!
Did you enjoy your toast?
~Laura~
N.B. - We still “hold on” to that tradition...and we love it!
my pleasure my friend... toast was good.. but cold.. actually I like cold toast.. there are some things you must hang on to... and never let go.. N
A happy memory then and forever.
Picnics - they bring out the true aroma of simplicity,
A happy memory then and forever.
Picnics - they bring out the true aroma of simplicity,
