THE PICNIC

A bit of tradition...

A bit of nostalgia...

This is how I remember this day...

This day my dad called...LA PASQUETTA

He would have gotten that picnic basket ready

With all our favorite foods and his special bottles of wine

And off we would go!

Depending where we were at the time

We would go to the mountains or a park or a beach

or our backyard... location didn’t matter!

It was all about this day off with a picnic al fresco

...Roman-Style...

To celebrate the season with family and friends!

VIVA LA PASQUETTA

GRAZIE LAURA ~ MIA CARA AMICA ! A me amo PICNICS (a very evocative word) ! English PICNICS al fresco are diminutive compared with I PICNICI Italiani ! My Friend who lived with a family en Milano per uno Anno ~ told me ~ per Uno PICNICO Italiano ~ they packed everything ~ A lace tablecloth ~ Fine Wines ~ Crystal Glasses ~ Silver Cutlery (no plastico !) and a silver Chandelier ~ Fine Dining Indeed but AL FRESCO ~ She told me in Italy COMIDA e SAGRADA and must be respected even on a PICNICO ! Loved the poem and its very Italian implications ! Baci e Abbracci ~ Al Fresco ~ Ti Amicci ANGELA e BRIAN XOXOX (Mea Culpa ~ Please excuse the Spanish words that have slipped in like COMIDA e SAGRADA ~ A & B XOXOX) Please check my FUSIION on CHOCOLATTA ~ Grazie A & B

          • Laura

            Mio Caro Amico BRIAN,
Thank you for reading my poem and for the comments. So happy you liked it! Don’t worry about slipping in Spanish words. I understand all the Romance Languages! No worries my friend!
Your friend was right. We would do the same minus the silver Chandelier! La COMIDA es SAGRADA... especially this Easter Monday! I Love today.! It’s very meaningful to us!
I will check out your fusion poem della CIOCCOLATA!
Un Forte Abbraccio e Baci per te ed Angela!

                              Beautifully written hunny.
Family traditions, some heart warming, some a pain, some a chore some exciting.
BUT they are all what matters, all what we remember, all what we cherish close.
This tradition sounds like perfection, continue on through your family ❤️
                              Brilliant work as always Hun.

I think this a very beautiful poem. It depicts family life in a happy, peaceful and romanticized way. Most of us can relate to your experience of happy memories, even those of us who might have experienced a sad childhood. There will always be a beam of sunlight somewhere, even for us! Your poem is truly uplifting. Now I know what VIVA LA PASQUETTA means. Thank you Laura.

P.S.-All the poems on my page were inspired by certain events and people in my life...some positive, some negative...
                              And that’s how life is..

I had a good time.. originally went to try and help out with the fall out from Mount Etna's recent big blow out, when I got there though, there was hardly anything for me to do so we just enjoyed the island and of course the seafood....

absolutely delightful.. not only your poem, but the authors note ... am just going to eat a slice of toast outside in the snow..... N x

A happy memory then and forever.
