Tune: St Fulbert
('Ye choirs of new Jerusalem')
Luke 24 v.27-32
********
Two disciples to Emmaus
They went, and then Jesus
Arisen, did to them draw near
And did to them appear
But at first they did not Him know
When He to them did show
And drawing near where they would go
The evening did fall so
Abide with us they said, and He
Was thus content to be
And as they ate He bread did take
Among them did it break
He blessed and broke it, to them gave
Then they knew He did save
He Christ, the one rose from the dead
Gives all the living bread
For their eyes then they were opened
As He to them did tend
They knew Him, but then He vanished
Yet moment was not missed
They said there to one another
Agreed, they did concur
That their hearts burned while He there talked
With them and with them walked
For the scriptures He did open
To them, and revealed then
That such did speak of Him, the Lord
He Himself too the Word

That road to Emmaus has a great deal for which to answer.
Thanks Gold. You been on that road less travelled, as the title of a book says? Maybe not, as it's been less travelled! lol. When those two had seen Jesus, they went back to Jerusalem again. they were then among the other disciples when Jesus appeared again! So they must have seen Him twice in short space of time.
Did they take the No.7 bus back home? Oh I know, some wag said 'Nope, the No.11 bus'!
Orchi your verses are so well done and I am loving the music you always send......... enjoy your day..........
Thanks Lorna.
Thanks STEVE for another fine ORGAN RECITAL and other fine POEM ~ I love the account of the "Two on the Road to Emmaus" I would have loved to have heard from JESUS himself ~ the meaning of the Cross ~ better even than a Billy Graham Sermon on John 3 v16 ~ AMEN Thanks for lifting our hearts each day ~ BRIAN
