Breakfasting Believers

Tune: Wurtemburg

(one tune to: Christ the Lord is risen again')

John 21 v.1-14 part

*******

Disciples had gone fishing

They had spent all night wishing

For a catch, then daybreak dawn

Jesus stood on shore that morn

Alleluia!

They did not know it was He

The did not at first sight see

Jesus said, 'Children, ahve you

Any food, any catch new?'

Alleluia!

'No', they said, then did He say

'Cast out net on right side', they

From the boat did make the cast

Then obtained a catch at last

Alleluia!

They dragged the net to the land

And then there by God's good hand

One hundred and fifty three

Fish in intact net there be

Alleluia!

'Come and eat', He to the said

Then they knew, risen from dead

Was their Lord, He with them there

Breakfast meal with them did share

Alleluia!

And He did take bread, it broke

As when at last supper spoke

For He living bread to all

Who believe Him, on Him call

Alleluia!

Good one Orchi, there were 154 fishes but we took one to eat before they counted them.

      Nice one Orchi

Thanks Michael. You got 153 friends to invite for brekkie? Well, maybe about 70, if we all have two or three fish each.

        • Michael Edwards

          I'll have to fin-k about it !

I'll go find the music Orchi.... loved your work but hope it was warmer in April for Jesus than it is for us here - all that playing in the water...... no blasphemy intended.

              • orchidee

Thanks Lorna. Suppose they had to get that fishing done. What I wonder is: if Christmas was in December, was it snowy in Bethlehem/Israel then? Maybe not?!

                • Lorna

Probably hot and dusty by day and freezing by night - the desert right? Good question. Anyway do they really know when he was born..... I thought they picked December because it snows and makes the Christmas trees look pretty...........

                • orchidee

Erm, dunno why they picked December Lorna. A bit embarrassing as it's a Roman pagan festival of Saturnalia on 25th. Though Google just said it's 17th - 23rd Dec, with 'wild revelry and indulgence!' Swoon! heehee.
Yes - and why does it ALWAYS snow on Dec 25th, going by the Christmas cards anyway. lol

                • orchidee

Oh heck, never mind Christmas just yet - we'll be wishing the year away! lol. Feels like we only had Christmas 5 minutes ago.
