“You are wrong!”

“No I am not!”

Words we hear

More and more often.

“If you do not agree with me I will hit you”

Is the next step,

And those steps increase

Into an ever despairing spiral

To despair.

“If you hit me, I will throw a stone at you”

“You do that and I will shoot you”

“I’ll get my friends to get you”

“But my friends will beat your friends”

“We have got lots of guns”

“Ours are bigger and more powerful than yours”

“But we have got bombs and will bomb you to hell”

“No Chance, we will bomb you first”

“You reckon, we have an atom bomb”

“Yes but………”

“Hello world, are you there?”

No answer, came the reply.

A fine write Gold. It happens in religious spheres also, sadly.

    • Goldfinch60

      Very true Orchi, thank you.

    • Michael Edwards

So appropriate Andy - great write. And Harry - what a great all-round entertainer now sadly missed.

      • Goldfinch60

Thank you Michael, he was a very funny man.

Meanwhile - is it the first day of Spring?! Can it always be March 21st every day?!

      • FineB

        Thank you Goldfinch60.

        A great write.

Retribution sadly so many people are so intent on this where in some circumstances the best thing to do would be to walk away in peace.

        Keep writing

        • Goldfinch60

If only people could walk away but egos seem to get in the way. Thank you for your comment.

When speakers are stopped from speaking and people are barred from entering the country because they hold the wrong views the next step is violence. When did we forget how to have open and honest debate? This crisis in N.Africa is by design... part of a larger plan (Kalergi) and a manifestation of the lack of scruples demonstrated by EU/Bilderburg IMO. Good poem though, this tendency of thought process is helpful to nobody.

          • Goldfinch60

Thanks for you comments Davey. The problem is that people don't think of the consequences.

Wow what a gripping write. Awful news today. This world is so hell bent on power.
Creates a scary place to raise our children.
I agree, screw the war and bring home the LOVE.

            • Goldfinch60

Thank you Maxine. Those people in power are only worried about what is in it for themselves, they don't care about the rest of us.

I suppose it is because I am from America that I must disagree. I mean this respectfully. We try to avoid war as much as we can. No one ever wants to go to war, but when it is unavoidable, there is not much more that can be done. There is a time for war and a time for peace. Personally, I like peace, but it is not that easy to walk away sometimes.
Still, I liked your poem. That is how fights often escalate.
              Persistence is key

              • Goldfinch60

The trouble nowadays is that going to war could escalate into the end of the world, why cannot people sort out their problems in a peaceful manner.
The Hippies had it right - "Make love, not war".

                • ForeverJesus6

People won't settle their differences in a peacfull matter. Also, I did not like the hippies that much. Still, the end of the world? That sounds pretty fun to me.
