The nib of the pen approaches the paper,
The faintest touch causes a mark.
From this mark the pen is slid
Upwards in a curve.
The beginning of the letter is formed,
The stroke goes down,
Then to the side as the letter is finished.
Another letter is started until a word is formed,
The beauty of each word from the mind,
Is painted onto the page,
Showing the skill of the writer.
As each line of words is formed
The pome is finsished.
The writing has taken so much tiem,
Such intensity of thougt to form eeach word,
To farm eech leter,
That the speling becums a bit odd.

- Comment from author about the poem: I try to write calligraphy and what I have found is that I am so intense on the formation of the letters that my spelling goes out of the window. The youtube input is Jacqueline du Pre playing the Elgar Cello Concerto, the conductor is her husband Daniel Barenboim. Every time I see this the emotion within me takes over my soul. If my calligraphy goes wrong it does not matter, Jacqueline had multiple sclerosis which caused he to stop playing - that mattered to me.

Great stuff Andy - gave me a return smile.
Thanks Michael. Smiles are important in our life. I bet the Elgar doesn't make you smile though.
No it doesn't - a very deep piece and DuPre was something else.
She certainly was.
The poem was uplifting, but that music is heavy. Heavier than a pound of gold to be certain.
So true but it does show the differences of the minor errors in my calligraphy and the dreadful loss to us of a wonderful talent. The comparison came to me after I had written the poem.
We've all been there... I like calligraphy too but it takes me a while and when I look it over and find I missed out a letter it is really frustrating.
It sure is frustrating but so satisfying when it is right.
A great write with a great video. Calligraphy is something that I always looked at as an interesting way to write, but I've never tried it. Thanks for sharing Andy.
Thanks for your comments AP, it is great fun to do but can be frustrating at times.
Oh no! That mean you got to do it all over agine - oops, again?! A fine write Gold, as I expect the calligraphy is too!
Thanks Orchi.
Calli Graphy - any relation to Calli-Ope. Wish I would shut up! lol.
I do the calligraphy in a different room from where Calliope looks over me trying to write poetry. I don't want her to get upset about me trying something else.
letting the image transform from your mind
So true ron, so true.
At first I was worried about you! I thought you were having a mini stroke..... then figured it out! If I were to start thinking about how I form the letters, everything else would leave my head.......
I am fine Lorna, thank you for caring.
I find that I am so intent on forming the letters correctly that my usually good spelling goes awry.
A couple of years ago I wrote out a fifteen line poem in calligraphic writing for my Church when I read it through I had made a spelling mistake in the thirteenth line, I think I did say something like “Oh dear, I wish I hadn’t have done that!”
I got it right the second time.
