Ohh, a swoony verse there with the kilt! Och, a fine McPoem Brian. That's my extent of being Scottish - a feeble attempt! lol.

    • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thank STEVE ~ I like you for many reasons but one is "However feeble you always make an attempt ! " Did you enjoy the Pipes 'n Drums ? The finale at the Tattoo is so so emotional "Everyone wus greetin' !" Lang may yer lum reek ~ Fer the sake o' Auld Lang Syne ~ Yers BRYAN McWILLIAMS !

Oh I do just love this! My grandfather (who I never met as he died before I could) was a Scot! Henry Fergus Traille Grant - how's that for the Highlands..... Anyway I grew up loving "the ladies from Hades" (bagpipes)...... and my mother took us to Scottish Games on the Fourth of July here in the US - in lieu of fireworks - We were watching the tossing of tabers .... Just love your work here. The video was similar to the "Black Watch" that came to Madison Square Garden when I was a kid .... aren't they thrilling! I can see going to battle with them playing!

      • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks LORNA for a very positive response ! People with Scots Blood in their veins always appreciate the PIPES ! I love films of Scottish Battles with the Pipes & Drums leading the clans into Battle. In the UK we want to preserve the UNION ! Scotland only has 4 million population bu it has much culture ! Despite BREXIT currently Scotland wants to stay with England ~ Wales & N Ireland Pleased you loved it ~ Yours as always BRIAN

        • Lorna

Well I certainly can't comment on the politics over there - especially since I love both countries.... seems silly from miles away that people who are really very close in background want to pull apart but then..... At the Scottish Games there were actually skirmishes between the Scots boys and the Irish that showed up..... everything is funny sometimes.

"When milk has been spilt" wow aye bard this is so poetic and entertaining in Scottish vernacular, I understand it nicely enough coz my friend is a Scott poetess who writes quite like this way. Kudos.

Nice to read from u again, glad to say hi and Pleez do review, give your thoughts as to my newest poem too.

          • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks FRIEND ~ Will check your Poem ! All Robbie Burns Poetry is written in the vernacular but you do need an AULD SCOTS / ENGLISH dictionary to understand some of the words ! Thanks for your comments ~ Yours BRIAN

          • orchidee

But you is not old! You is only a couple of years past 21! heehee.

            • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks STEVE ~ Yes 35 not 85 (God forbid !) But remember I wrote this wearing another Man's Kilt who was 85 when he died ! Yours BRIAN the BAIRN !

              • orchidee

Argghh, hope that kilt verse did not apply to you then - anything fell off? Swoon! lol.

              • Michael Edwards

No scots blood in my veiny bits but this is such a good work I almost imagine I have.

                • BRIAN & ANGELA

THANKS MIKE ~ Pleased you liked it ! Along with the HAGGIS & KILT ~ the Pipes sound best o'er the Border resonating among the Hills ! Yours BRIAN

                • Christina8

I love how you wrote this with the vernacular and all! The part about the kilt was hilarious! Great job! I like that your muse never runs out of material! Hugs to you and and A! Christina

                  • BRIAN & ANGELA

THANKS CHRISTINA ~ Mah braw wee lassie ! Pleased you liked the vernacular ~ that is what makes BURNS such a unique and well loved Poet. As you probably know (and it is true !) traditionally NOTHING is worn under the KILT ! The bags pipes are very sweet music to those of us "wi' a wee drappie o' Scotia's Blude runnin' thru yon veins !" Hope you enjoyed SCOTLAND THE BRAVE at the end of the Edinburgh Tattoo ~ I play it every time I check the Poem and I cry for the memory of it every time ! Angela is an Honorary Scot and loves all things Scottish ! Scottish Hugs ~ Tus Hermanos ~ ANGELA Y BRIAN !

Ha ha - your humour excels in that penultimate stanza - - the rhyming is second to none in this dear ol' Scott's Perspective on age and its probs. A great read Brian and glad I didna miss it
