Tune: Darwalls 148th
('Ye holy angles bright')
1 Peter 3 v.8-12 and v.18
*******
Be you all of one mind
Be courteous and kind
Have compassion toward
Each other, wide and broad
Love as brothers
And too sisters
Show pity too
To not a few
Not rendering evil
For evil, so not fall
Return not rail for rail (railing)
And let not tempers fail
But do you bless
And true confess
You thereto called
To that, no less
For it be so, you shall
Inherit blessing well
For they that life will love
And be blessed from above
Let them refrain
Their tongue again
From evil word
No guile be heard
Let them evil eschew
Let them do good anew
Let them seek peace, healing
Ensue it, comfort bring
For the Lord's eyes
He all espies
Righteous are seen
None tended mean
The Lord's ears are open
Unto righteous' prayers then
But His face be against
Evil, impenitent
For Christ also
Suffered we know
For sins, that we
Holy may be
The just for the unjust
He suffered, we needs must
Trust Him for salvation
He brings to each nation
So He the Son
The work has done
To God us brings
With thanks each sings

Good uplifting write Orchi.
Thanks Gold. You been to Manchester Cathedral as in the clip? I haven't. Well, maybe we did go there in 1066 - if it was there then?
Great work Orchi.
Thanks Michael. The verse with 'rail' in it has nothing to do with trains, or bicycle railings! It don't mean you must never travel by train! lol.
Ah thank goodness - I was about to give my tickets away.
The full line is 'Do not return railing for railing' but I did not have enough syllables for 'railing'.
So - if we are not to return rail for rail, does that mean we must never buy a return ticket?! We will have to come back by bus or something!
I don't feel like suffering today Orci..... let's not. Tell me, why are you always on about 1066 (The Battle of Hastings??) ... did you die there in another life?
I know what you mean Lorna. I think it means 'constructive suffering', and Peter says we may experience it at times, not all the time! Phew!
Well, Goldfinch and I are millions of years old, so we say. We were both at Battle of Hastings in 1066 - but not anything spooky nor reincarnation. I messed it up by saying to King Harold 'Look up, Sir' at the fateful moment when an arrow was flying through the air. You know the rest of the story! Much more of this and we'll all go nutty! heehee.
Poor Harold - forgot to duck...........
We'll all go nutty soon - if much more of this!
Too late! One doesn't have to be crazy but it helps........... oh and I notice that I seem to come up with a new way to spell your nickname each time I write it.... will try to be consistent..... it's my multiple personalities struggling with each other...........
You can call me what you like - within reason! Just don't call me Dorothy (random name picked out there!). lol.
OK Dorothy...... I won't
A beautiful write, Orchi!
Uplifting indeed!
~Laura~
