Tune: Hyfrydol
('Alleluia, sing to Jesus')
Isaiah 40 v.1-8 & v.28-31
********
Comfort, comfort you my people
Says your God, be solaced all
Speak comforts to Jerusalem
None shall accuse or condemn
Cry to her, her warfare finished
Her sins pardoned, accomplished
Is the Lord's judgement upon her
Blessings now He does confer
The voice of one in wilderness
Herald's voice which does confess
'Prepare you the way of the LORD'
Hearken to His living word
Isaiah does here prophesy
Of John the Baptist's voice nigh
'Make straight in desert a highway
For our God', with Him comply
Every valley be exalted
Every mountain, hill, be lowed
Crooked places be you made straight
Rough places be plain not late
And the glory of the LORD shall
Be revealed, all flesh shall tell
Shall all see it together, for
The LORD has spoken it sure
The voice said, 'Cry', and the reply
'What shall I cry?' What espy?
Say, All flesh is grass, shall wither
Come and see, now draw hither
And all flesh's goodliness is
As flower of field, see this
'Tis gone, when Spirit's wind blows there
But word of our God stands e'er
The everlasting God, the LORD
He is your strength, your reward
He be Creator of the ends
Of the earth, to all He tends
He faints not, nor is He weary
For He is Almighty, see
That there is no end of searching
Of His wise understanding
Unto the faint He fives power
To weak he does strength endower
Even youths shall be weary, faint
And shall fall, human restraint
But they that wait in the LORD shall
Renew their strength, rise up well
Mount up with wings as of eagles
Run, walk, not tire, not one falls

Thanks STEVE ~ Love the Hymn & Choir ~ also all the truths expressed in your Poem ! Yours BRIAN
Thanks Brian. Ahh, a comforting pic too!
Stanza four was my favorite. Well done once again sir. You're fleshing out with the descriptive words, and It's looking good.
Thanks Nicholas. I am not to expand it too much, particularly if I am quoting what some is saying - 'like this' - notice the quotation marks. Or otherwise, sometimes if we look up the original words, that may not be what the person said! doh!
Understood sir!
Yes - my aim is not to re-write the Bible. I can't stand the paraphrased 'The Message' Version. It has things similar in it to 'Whoopee' and probably 'Cooeeee' too, if I looked into it in detail! I'm not stiff and starchy about it, but that seems like drivel.
Indeed it would seem so. I was more so referencing the things where you weren't quoting someone, or something. Haha.
Ahh I see. I may wax 'descriptive' but sometimes it's just to find something to rhyme. We don't HAVE to always rhyme though! But if one syllable is out of place it's almost the end of the world! Well, it mucks up the poem anyway. lol
if you prepare the way of the lord.
I will follow.
Thanks pauly.
For Yellowrose............
Thanks Lorna. yes, or anyone needing comfort. The tone of the book of Isaiah changes at chapters 40-66, to be of a more comforting theme. In chapters 1-39 it is mainly judgemental, with some 'nice' and comforting passages interspersed.
