Buy another tie
Or spaghetti for the table
Or a Jag if you are able
Buy the flagpole then the flag
A microwave and things with cables
Techie stuff galore
Furniture too big to fit the door
Another house to put it in
Live there part time and then
Live in the other house again
Working all the time
To pay for the cruise to unwind
A pricier funeral is best
For one who has more than the rest

Adverts on telly are becoming more dafter. What idiots even, would believe them, let alone sensible people?!
The ones shopping in the too expensive upscale supermarkets that Michael was writing about the other day.............. they must just like to work waaaaayyyyy too much I guess. I passed on the road yesterday someone I know slightly that I know has not got a fortune in the bank - they were driving a Range Rover......... ok - take most of your money, put it into a Rover (nice car by the way) ...... and drive it around where people can hit you............ I don't get it............
Some shop adverts are very bossy too. Some bank adverts are just naff.
So let's ignore them.............
Well, there is one bank advert, consisting of two women singing an insanely boring song. Nothing at all to do wit the bank. 30 seconds advert seemed like 30 minutes!
It is curious after an advert when you have to ask yourself "what was that advert for?"........ I thought the point was to remember the name of the company! ha ha.... it's more like half-time at a football game............
Enjoyed this throughly love ❤️
My long box to be made from recycled egg boxes - don't we waste so much on unnecessary goods and aren't we all so very vulnerable. Adverts on telly are big turn off (among other subjects I'd better not mention as I'm probably in a minority on most of them) but am I subconsciously influenced by them? Probably.
So much wanted by many but never really needed. Good write Lorna.
This verse says it all in these crazy times of materialism's allure - a fine write Lorna and I agree with every line ending with that very telling couplet.
Lorna,
You’re so spot on with your poem! I totally agree with the message conveyed in your write...especially:
“A pricier funeral is best
For one who has more than the rest”!
My mom told me to bury her in the backyard when her time comes!
My dad, on the other hand, insisted on Green-Wood Cemetery where his favorite maestro (Leonard Bernstein) is buried!
My parents were like yin and yang about many things in life!
Great choice of pic and video! First time I’ve heard that “Oliver” version. I liked it!
A BRILLIANT posting! Brava!
