Contentment in Wine.

Goldfinch60

Into the wine shop I went,

A shop I had been in many times.

The staff knew me

And we always had a chat,

Just passing the day in good humour.

I started looking for my wines

When a new man approached me,

“Can I help?” he asked.

This new man was so young,

He looked about fourteen,

Mind you at my age

Anyone under thirty looks under twenty.

We started talking about the wines I wanted,

His enthusiasm was outstanding.

A young man secure in his own knowledge,

A young man who was so happy in his work.

The right man in the right place,

So contented with his life.

          Andy,

There should be more young men such as the one you met with such enthusiasm for the work he was doing! Bravo to the young man!

“Brindisi” is one of my favorite arias from La Traviata! Upbeat and delightful!
May your days be bright and filled with song, laughter, and some wine!
          Brindiamo! 🍷🍷
A fine write! I enjoyed the read and the aria! Whenever I hear that aria, I want to get up and dance...and then I remember the whole opera!

Thank you so much Laura, yes it is great to meet young people with such enthusiasm about their work.

We have seen the opera and I obviously have recordings and dvds of it. It is a wonderful opera, as are all Verdi's operas.

That aria was played by a string quartet at a my nieces wedding ceremony as the newly married couple left the Chapel - there were smiles and laughter on everybody's faces.

            • Laura🌻

That must’ve been such a beautiful sight! I can just imagine everyone coming out of the chapel humming that resounding...
              “🎶Brindiamo🎶
              🎶Brindiamo 🎶...”

Oh Andy I am so happy for him......... he found a passion that isn't in a corporate office watching life go by through windows that don't open!!! I laughed at your comment "he knew nothing about water"......... that's a good one......

                • orchidee

That's me putting me oar in, in my disguise sometimes as a 'phantom whisky-waterer!' They'll lock me up soon for nuttiness! lol.

                  • Goldfinch60

Thank you Lorna, it is great to see such enthusiasm.

Orchi must be watched as he will put water in anything,

I shall pop round that shop then, and teach him the delights of whisky-watering! Must I spoil everything?! lol.
