Tune: Corpus Christi
('Jesus in thy dear Sacrament')
*********
Respectfully, reverently
And too with joy we be
Your people, who you do here invite
To taste this feat's delight
For here is bread and wine, symbols
We here have heard your calls
In your love you bid us come and share
At your table this fine fare
Strengthen us here to serve you sure
You our Lord evermore
You who lived and died and rose again
And your tomb opened then
You ate and drank, instituted
Your Supper, and you fed
Your disciples, and you feed us here
We meet in godly fear
Your life given up in my place
And for all of each race
We cannot atone, for you alone
Salvation's work do own

Query - last stanza, first line should that be life rather than live?
Good write though and very meaningful.
Yes, thanks Gold. Typo corrected.
Thanks STEVE for a very evocative tune ~ well played ! The Communion Service (normally every week in Evangelical Churches) and sometimes completely led which is very beautiful to experience ! It is always (for me) a very Spiritual Experience whether with four of us with Cola and a Bap in a Caravan or thousands at the Keswick Convention ! When abroad ~ even if I don't know much of the Language the Passion is the same ! Buzz Aldrin celebrated Communion on the Moon ~ but He didn't tell NASA ! Thanks for the quality of your spiritual input ~ Yours BRIAN ! Please check my POEM ~ "IN THE GARDEN" ! Thanks B !
Thanks Brian. It's a fairly rare hymn, mainly high Anglo-Catholic, or Roman Catholic, I think. Not I'm one of their 'regulars'. Doh, we had little glasses at one church for the Communion wine. It was grape juice from cartons from a shop. It became 'unsanctified' as it was past it sell-by date. Someone dashed out quick to get a 'sanctified' carton before the point in the service where we took bread and wine!
I pray when I'm in a bad situation.
it works sometimes.
Thanks Pauly. I expect you've heard the one about sometimes the answer being 'No', or 'not yet'!
sometimes.
