Righteousness Reality

Tune: Ich Will Dich Lieben

('Thee will I love, my strength, my tower')

Romans 10 v.3-13

*******

Christ is the end of the law for

Righteousness, to who believe sure

On His atoning work, we made

Righteous by Him, the price He paid

Vain our own efforts to be saved

But Christ for us the way has paved

For Moses writes, this be the score

The righteousness that be of law

That who does all the law obey

Perfectly, complete, every day

Such shall live by the law's commands

Yet we cannot meet such demands

But righteousness which is of faith

Speaks on this wise, thus does it saith

'Say not in your heart, who here shall

Ascend to heaven, rising well?'

And say not, 'Who shall depths descend?'

Neither of these bring righteous end

But what does it say, righteousness

Which is of faith, how it us bless?

It says the word is near to you

Even in your mouth, your heart too

That is, the word of faith, it preached

To ends of earth it has us reached

The word is if you shall confess

With mouth the Lord Jesus, no less

And shall in your heart believe true

God raised Him from the dead anew

So you shall be saved, cease from your

Own works to save self evermore

For with the heart man does believe

Unto righteousness, it [the heart] receives

And with the mouth confession is

Made unto salvation, true this

For Scripture say, 'Whoe'er believes

On Him not ashamed, life receives'

For no difference, Jew and Greek

All may come to Him, Him may seek

He the same Lord rich over all

Unto all that upon him call

For whoe'er on name of the Lord

Calls, shall be saved, this be His word

Thanks STEVE ~ Love "Ich Will Dich Leben" nice strong Germanic Tune ~ to be sung with gusto in a cool draughty C of E ! Your poem reminds us that when JESUS was crucified the "Veil of the Temple" was ripped open by the Hand of God ~ TOP to BOTTOM ~ giving us Gentiles access to the Holy of Holies and allowing us to come BOLDLY before the THRONE of GRACE ~ AMEN Great mesage for a Sunny May Day in ESSEX ~ Brother BRIAN ~ AMEN

Thanks Brian. Not that I know any German. I gotta get out of those draughty places. A CofE church in town is chilly even in a heatwave - warmer outside. I get more miserable the chillier I get, as some services go on! Not a lot of 'life' in some places either.
