Tune:Morning Star

('Brightest and best of the sons of the morning')

Psalm 113

*******

Praise you the LORD, worship with Hallelujah

Praise His great name, He JEHOVAH, He JAH*

Raise you worship to Him, all you His servants

Prayer and praise ascend like fragrant incense

Blesséd be the name, the name of the LORD sure

From this time forth, and be for evermore

In all times of day, from sun rise to dusk fall

He worthy to be praised by one and all

The LORD, high above all the nations is He

His glory above the heavens is, see

Who is like unto the LORD our God, we cry

He dwells on high, exalted, yet us nigh

He humbles Himself the things to here behold

The things that are in heaven, He involved

With them, and the things that too in the earth are

He views all from low to highest afar

The LORD, the poor He raises out of the dust

Out of their downcast, oppression, and rust

The needy He lifts up out of the dunghill

Out of their misery, cares for them still

He does this so that He may with them then set

With the princes of His people and yet

Has good things for them, to prosper fruitfully

Barren woman He makes mother to be

Keeper of a house, she shall joyfully know

Blessings of children, she shall fare well so

Praise you the LORD, worship with Hallelujah

Praise His great name, He JEHOVAH, He JAH*

-------

* Jehovah is God's 'name, shortened to 'Jah' or 'YHWH' (Yahweh).

Many people never spoke it, considering it too holy to speak it, and

writing it as G_d.

'Hallelujah' or 'Alleluia' = Hallel and Jah = Praise the Lord.

    Praise the Lord indeed.

    • orchidee

Thanks Gold. I needed two lines to finish off, and conveniently the original hymn says 'The first verse may be repeated' or 'In choirs and places where they sing'! Some places they don't repeat the first verse (bit mean) or mutter and mumble - call that singing?!

THANKS STEVE ~ A great tune ~ well rendered ~ in fulsome volume ! Love the paraphrase on Psalm 113 ~ reminds us that GOD is both TRANSCENDENT in the Heavens and IMMANENT in our day-to-day lives ! Anther of the BIBLE's many paradoxes ! Yours BRIAN

Thanks Brian. Can I cope with those long words this time of the morning? Transcendent and immanent? lol.
