THIS LAND

Michael Edwards

THIS LAND

Native

to this earth

this land

this sky

no map

no guide book

helps me find

the road

I take.

I do not stride

or jog

or run

instead

I slowly walk

along

and see

the trees

the plants

the darting birds

beneath

the open sky.

This land

which so

delights

my eyes

unknown

by others

who may pass

intent

with thoughts

and dreams

and yet

who never see.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Not sure this painting entirely goes with the poem but I thought I'd post it anyway. I had only just finished it and it was on display still wet and unframed at my Open Studio event last weekend and was sold - It's now at the framers before I hand it over. It's quite a large work measuring about 28ins square

A fine write and pic Michael. I went on an 'Arts Trail' spread over three areas, even bordering different counties. I covered two of the areas, the other one was too far out.

Mine was part of the South Leicestershire trail - I was one of about 25 studios open and I shared my studio with another artist who doesn't have a studio of her own.

      THIS LAND is my LAND
      The Blest and Perfect
      Land of ENGLAND
      No matter where I roam
      Terra Firma or Aqua Foam
      You will always hear me
      Singing this SONG
SHOW ME THE WAY TO GO HOME !

Thank Michael for a lovely Poem and a typically ENGLISH BEACH ! I am only 10 miles (as the car drives !) form the nearest BEACH ~ AMEN ~ Yours BRIAN !

It is a beautiful green land - as long as the property developers are kept in check. The photo of the painting is not all that good but I found it really difficult to get a good image of it - anyway it gives some idea of the finished work - a very minimalist painting which I am beginning to prefer more and more.

It is so easy to rush through life, and we do so when we are young. As I get older, I find myself slowing down to enjoy things more. Time goes by so quickly

Take your time - look up at buildings - look at the trees - look at the landscape. There is so much to see and appreciate and yet they are unknown by so many - thanks for dropping by.

The eyes of an artist see beauty where others see nought. The hands of an artist create love where others fumble.
Wonderful picture, no wonder it was desired so much.

the trunk of a tree isn't brown - its all the colours of the rainbow - why can't others see it? Cheers dusk

              Michael,
              Beautiful words, beautiful painting!
              To paraphrase dusk,
you create love and see beauty in your writings, paintings, and photos! It is a pleasure to view and enjoy your works of art!
