Growth In Grace: Hebrews Series - 6

orchidee

Tune: St Fulbert

('Ye choirs of new Jerusalem')

Hebrews 5 v.13-14

********

For everyone that uses milk

Is not of mature ilk

But in the word of righteousness (the Scriptures)

They are babes, they confess

But solid food belongs to those

Who of full age, they chose

By reason of use and practice

Great treasures not to miss

They have their senses exercised

To discern unsurmised

Both good and evil, so the way

They prosper in each day

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8686 metre. A little one today, as I felt to focus on just two verses of Scripture. It's true physically and spiritually - we need food and drink to grow in both. In what we sense - hearing, seeing, tasting, touching, smelling - we don't just surmise, but discern. I feel it can apply particularly to spiritual seeing and hearing, and to a lesser extent to spiritual touching, tasting, and smelling.
