Alone.
My hands cover the sound
Of another broken bone,
Awarded to her by the one to which she is bound
To love and to cherish, that’s what they say
But he hates and neglects not just her but me
I sit and I wipe my tears away
As I listen to the way she,
Hurts.
He said that he loved me,
But he never did,
Daddy doesn’t love me
I’m not the perfect kid.
He ran away and he never looked back
He didn’t have not one regret
Further and further along the track
He’s happier now, I bet.
Without me.
It wasn’t just me and my mum, but my sister too,
I held her in my arms as she sobbed it all out,
He left us wondering ‘what shall we do?’
Not knowing what all of this was about,
He found someone new
Created a family of his own
Had a new baby too,
He doesn’t even care enough to phone.
Gone from his mind.
We went through a lot and it hurt like hell
But oh well,
we’re happier now my family and me
As we continue on just us three.

WELCOME PLP ~ Thanks for your first poem ~ very poignant and personal. I have always had a good relationship with my DAD and still do ~ so I can't empathise but I can sympathise. However many of my students (aged 17 to 30) have parental problems so I do understand ! This is a very well penned Poem with lots of Rhyme & Rhythm but with a sad content ! Verses 1 & 2 & 3 describe your Dads attitude to Your Mum ~ You and Your Sister and then he left and started a New Family and that really hurt ! I love the optimism in V 4.
"We're happier now my family and me
As we continue on ~ just us three !"
