Peonies' pink petals please
And nod quite prettily to bees
And to the lesser plants and trees
Holding sway over their court
Of stately greenery

- Comment from author about the poem: I just love Danny Kaye and found this funny little song........... not entirely sure what he's on about at some points but sounds like he is channeling a Scottish Louis Armstrong ........ I love reading about him - there wasn't anything that he couldn't do.......morning!

Video didn't work for me but I love your little poem - they are lovely flowers and it's just a shame they don't last for long.
I agree Michael - they are very short-lived..... and they have to be staked up or they just flop!
Bit like me lol 🙂
ha ha - that really has me laughing out loud - thanks!
You flopping?! Erm, 'too much info', to explain further?! heehee.
Ah - I love the short lines of perceptive glory in this little ode to the royal peony - - lovely read Lorna.
Thanks Fay........... I'm curious...... could you access the video? Michael couldn't so just wondering.
Lorna,
Loved listening to Danny Kaye...especially the part where he rolls his rrrs! When I taught ITALIAN and SPANISH, rolling the rrrs was part of our lesson!
Beautiful peonies! Is this a pic before the storm?
Love this...
“Holding sway over their court
Of stately greenery”!
Very regal!
~Laura~
More regal than the picture but still........... no this is after the storm - we're pretty much back to normal and all cleaned up! Thanks L! By the way, could you pick a subject, any subject to point me to a new poem? Absolutely anything........
Write about your love of horses and perhaps your youth!
Yes I accessed the video no probs. - - I too love Danny Kaye - he was so talented.
A fine write Lorna. I don't know what he's on about either, as video don't play for me either!
hmmmmmmmm odd as Fay could see it ...... oh well. If you really want to hear it you can probably just put a search in Youtube.....
Super write, as Michael said they are lovely flowers but do not last very long.
I'm not going to either if this garden doesn't settle down and let me watch it instead of work in it.............
