Barnabas Blessings

Tune: Sine Nomine

('For all the saints')

Acts 11 v.19-30

********

To Syrian Antioch gospel spread

They boldly went, the Holy Spirit led

Them there to preach sure, Christ He was their Head

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Many believed, they did to the Lord turn

And their hearts did with holy passions burn

News of this Jerusalem church did learn

Alleluia, Alleluia!

And so they sent Barnabas for to go

Unto Antioch, he saw it was so

Encouraged them that the Lord more they know

Alleluia, Alleluia!

He exhorted that with purpose of heart

They would cleave to the Lord in every part

Continuing on, having made fine start

Alleluia, Alleluia!

For he a good man, full of the Spirit

Life full of help-gifts, with Christ's glory lit

And full of faith, making lives for Christ fit

Alleluia, Alleluia!

And hospitality seen, offering

With Paul to Judea he did it bring

Relief fund for famine, that was the thing

Alleluia, Alleluia!

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 10.10.10.10. metre. There's many 'good men' and 'good women' about, if we look far enough. Even looking to ourselves!
