Michael Edwards

Accidents happen near to home – or so the people say

I think we'd best leave home – let’s do it straight away.

I did as you said and left home,
In case I had an accident.
    Now I am completely lost,
    Lost in a strange world.

    Like the penguins.

    • Michael Edwards

Is it warm where you are Andy? - if so the penguins are even more lost than you are - poor things

      • Goldfinch60

Yes it is ########## hot (fill in your own word), I am much happier in the cooler weather.

        • Michael Edwards

Mmmm - 10 letters - perspiring, sweltering - actually I love the weather - just a pity the grass has assumed a shade of ochre akin to the Arabian desert.

          • Goldfinch60

Reminds me of the summer of 1976 when I lived in Kent and the ground was chalk, it was almost pure white, the green had completely gone.

Oh lol, good write and pic Michael. Did you say 'I'll get my coat' and go?!

            • Michael Edwards

Ah now - mention of coat - I'm just writing a couple of verses about sartorial inelegancies - coming to a screen near you soon.

            • orchidee

              Miss Berles about?!

              • Michael Edwards

She's just gone out to buy some courgettes,

              • Heartwriter

Very cute, short and sweet! Enjoyed.

              • FineB

                Thanks Michael.

                I enjoyed that!

Accidents certainly do happen near home!

aaarghh! No where is safe nowadays.

                Keep writing

Dead right - well not dead - or even injured - well not yet - think I'm getting a touch of the Orchidees

                • orchidee

Erm, it could be **** hot here - that's not such a long word as ##########. Well, it's not brass monkeys anyway!

                  • Michael Edwards

Err - very? Do brass monkeys have feelings?

                  • LaurašŸŒ»

                    Michael,
                    Adorable penguins!
When I taught seven year olds, my favorite science unit was on penguins! They loved it!
Their favorite book was ā€œMr. Popperā€™s Penguinsā€! Thereā€™s also a movie about the story with Jim Carrey!

Love the painting with the short verse!

                    ~Laura~

                    • Michael Edwards

Don't you just love them. This little family is proving to be very popular and might be producing them as cards - looking into costings etc. Thanks Laura

                      • LaurašŸŒ»

Great idea! Put me on the list for a few orders!šŸ§

Woof! I'm a watchdog. I tell people off for not marking poems 18+ when they include the word f-f-f-f- freeze!
Well, not exactly, but another F word. Woof!

                        • Michael Edwards

Do my penguins come under the 18+ category - getting worried - do penguins go woof ???

                          • orchidee

Nope, penguins are OK. I mean I say 'woof' at F and B. And I don't mean Free bed and Board sort of F&B!

                            • Michael Edwards

Thanks so much Orchi for the clarification - oh what relief ...!

                            • Andrew Charles Forrest

Thanks Michael... Now a polar bear on sand, that's global warming.

Love a naughty shorty. Hope the series goes well.

                              • Michael Edwards

Yes this was an early one - the current paintings all reflect ice by the use of a little purple - thanks Andrew.

                                enjoyed it

Dam brain still made it out to be sad.
                                Brilliantly done though

                              • Fay Slimm.

So glad I caught up with your penguin paintings Michael - have always loved their adorable struggles to meet harsh conditions - - - will look forward to more of your wisely constructed nodules too.

                              • Suresh

OOPPSS!! I misread your intent. I asked trouble (children) to leave.

                                Entertaining as always,
