I spent Two Weeks in MICHIGAN ! But Why ?
To visit the DETROIT FORD MUSEUM !
My Family have had DOZENS of FORDS ~ So
I wanted to visit the Shrine ~ and sit in
A MODEL T ! I give a TALK ~ TITLED
"My Other Car is a RED FORD MUSTANG !"
I saw DETROIT ~ She has inner vibrance
And the FORD MUSEUM ~ and MODEL T !
But touring MICHIGAN MITTEN ~ I got
More than I bargained for ! She's a TWO PART
STATE ~ MITTEN I visited in The FALL
Two-Zero-One-Three ~ when I was THIRTY
Not Upper MICHIGAN ~ another trip !
MITTEN ~ more Coastline than California
WEST Lake MICHIGAN ~ EAST Lake HURON
"VISIT MICHIGAN WEBSITE" states Spring is .....
SUPERB ~ Summer SPECTACULAR ~ and
Autumn AWESOME and Winter ? WONDERLAND !
Great Beaches ~ Sailing ~ Fishing ~ Food ~ People
Motto ~ "GREAT PENINSULAR ~ LOOK AROUND"
State Bird ~ ROBIN - Flower ~ APPLE BLOSSOM
Tree ~ WHITE PINE - Reptile ~ THE PAINTED TURTLE
Famous for CARS & CORNFLAKES & CHERRIES !
Famous Kids ? STEVIE WONDER (1950) MADONNA (1958)

A Sonnet is two short to Honour a US STATE so we add
TEN MORE LINES and it becomes A TWO DOZEN TRIBUTE !
If you've never visited MICHIGAN put it on your list ~ You
will be welcome any Season of the Year ~ Open All Year !
This "TWO DOZEN TRIBUTE" is presented in BLANK VERSE
(iambic pentameter ~ ten syllables per line) It is dedicated
to all 10 million MICHIGANDERS & One Family in particular !

Thanks MIKE ~ Well it is a big & unique State (EIGHTH in terms of population) so one could write a Book and it needed 10 more lines which makes 24. We don't call them SUPER SONNETS (There are double sonnets 28 lines) but these are "TWO DOZEN TRIBUTES" I'm posting one tomorrow on ~ IL PRINCIPE CARLOS Yours BRIAN & ANGELA

GOOD EVENING BRIAN: Its 10am Saturday here 12C 54F (well it is the Middle of Winter in NZ!) You make me jealous with all the US STATES you have visited. Michigan sounds wonderful any Season, lots of Snow and sledging in the Winter. Love the style of the Poem and I agree Sonnets (14 lines) are a bit short for a big subject. HI SWEETHEART ~ Pleased you enjoyed the Style & Subject of the "Tribute to Michigan" it really is a great and unique State.
