Tune: Webb
('Stand up, stand up, for Jesus')
Acts 3 v.1-9
********
Peter, John, to Temple went
For prayer was their intent
They saw a certain man there
Who others they did bare
Him then to Temple daily
For he lame from birth, see
Laid him at gate Beautiful
To ask alms of them all
He asked Peter and John alms
They had none in their palms
They on him their eyes fastened
Said, Look on us, attend
And so he gave to them heed
Expecting alms indeed
To of them receive something
What they to hand could bring
Peter said, Silver and gold
I have none, here be told
But such as I have, I give
You, look here now and live
For in the name of Jesus
Christ of Nazareth, yes
Rise up and walk this day, so
Shall you your healing know
Peter took him by the hand
He received strength, did stand
Leaped up, and stood, and walked tall
Was visible to all
And he entered then into
The Temple with them new
Walking, leaping, and praising
To God they all did sing

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 7676 7676 metre. I chose the tune specially, with its reference in the hymn, and in the poem, to 'standing'.

May those songs be always heard.
Thanks Gold. Thinking of you, that you will both find healing of some sort. This poor man, stuck, dependent on others, until that day.... A real 'wow' experience, not just for the sake of being 'spectacular', but he got more than silver and gold.
I got no gold anyway! meanwhile - you got any gold you could lend me?!
Only the gold feathers that the finches sometimes shed.
A miracle. Only God can do. The apostles had that gift for a season. Great write!
Thanks Heart. Still happens today - can do!
Sweet! Thanks.
Thanks ANDY ~ Perfect compliment of Lyric 'n Tune. Best sung to a full Sally Army Band with the Songsters and their Tambourines. Coming from the North ~ I'm partial to a bit o' Brass ! Often if I'm on Holiday I worship @ the Sally Army ~ Always ~ Happy ~ A Good Sing ~ A practical sermon a scone an a Big Mug o' Char ! Why can't all Churches emulate the SA ! Love in Action ~ WORLDWIDE ! Love this passage ~ we always get more from GOD ~ than we ask for ! He asked for ALMS and he got LEGS ~ AMEN. If ever you've been to a Synagogue Service or a Jewish Funeral its all very proper and solemn ~ BUT ~ this Man had NEW LEGS so HE (Acts 3 v 8) entered the TEMPLE ~ Walking & Leaping & Praising God just like they do in the ELIM when someone is Healed. LOVE ABHORS RULES & POMPOSITY. No wonder that JUDAISM and the LAW abhorred CHRISTIANITY ! It was too Happy Clappy just like the Sally Army is today. Thanks for quelling our Monday Morning Blues ~ Yours BRIAN & ANGELA !
Thanks B & A - Steven here!
