A fine historical write Steve.Yes, rather like the Wheat and Weeds Bible parable. Or rather \'tares\' or \'darnel\', which look suspiciously like the wheat. Both are allowed to grow together until the end of time, in case the wheat is spoiled, if the tares were rooted out too soon. A bit of a mystery too

Steve, a well-wrought catalog and argument. Very dense and interesting to follow. Ultimately, however, the narrator capitulates in a hopelessness that is a bit of a dead end. Not an overtly Judeo-Christian argument, but you suggest that original sin or evil cannot be extirpated. For every complex evil plan, there is a cure for cancer or a period of peace and prosperity, or national liberation or a scientific breakthrough that serves us well. You don\'t give us any hope! (-:

It may not be an epic, very few of us write epics, but your words are very good.

Welcome to MPS.

I fantasized a number of epics as a teen poet. They are still in the back of my mind at 66! I love the classics, Beowulf, Homer, Dante, Milton, and many more less well-known. Modern ones that I return to over and over are Jason and Medea by John Gardner of \"Grendel\" fame, Kazantzakis\'s rich \"The Odyssey, a Modern Sequel,\" Yeats\' lyrical journey through the ages of man \"The Wanderings of Oisin\" and my favorite, Derek Walcott\'s wistful epic of the Caribbean \"Omeros.\" These give me hope for my 70\'s! Don\'t abandon hope!

Angela here - Good Evening Steve ! Welcome to MPS it is a very PROACTIVE site & operates by reading & commenting on each others poems. Thanks for sharing your first Poem it is a dilemma many of us - quite often - find ourselves in. There are some Members (like FAY) who conjure up a very memorable ODE each day and others (like Brian & I) who struggle ! Please visit our site - Thanks !
Your Poem may not be an epic (in your mind) but it is elegantly penned with Consistent Meter which makes it very reciteable - the Hallmark of a good poem. There is also a discernable Rhyme Pattern - which is another Hallmark ! xab xab xcd xcd xef xef. My (Husband of 6 Months) & I are performance Poets. Poetry started in the Oral Tradition and in our estimation a poem must be RECITABLE and in that context - Yours really is an EPIC ! More Poems please ! WE live near LONDON (UK) What State of the USA do you live in ?

Blessings & Peace to You & Yours
Love Angela & Brian ! !
