I had heard of this school and the atrocities there this poem puts to verse what was worse. Very well written with good rhyme and flow.

The Bible in Shadow
Tristan Robert Lange said:

Matthew, there’s a strong sense of tension running through this…the way something can be held with deep reverence and still spark conflict and questioning. It feels honest to that reality, not simplified or forced. That balance is what makes it linger. Powerful write, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

The faith of one is the disbelief of another and what is holy to one a myth to another I say to each their own and do not impede the beliefs of either. Well done

Its always great when authors challenge the norm, or the norm at that particular space in time.

Tristan Robert Lange said:

Matthew, this carries a blend of charm and unraveling…a man stepping into a role and almost making it real, only for it to slip away just as quickly. It feels theatrical, but grounded in something true about ambition and illusion. Well written. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Matthew, this carries a quiet weight…that sense of something once powerful now living only in memory. The amber-eyed presence, the steady hunt, all of it lingers like a shadow that never fully leaves. You brought it back just enough for us to feel it. Well written. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Red Brother at the Crossroads
Tristan Robert Lange said:

Matthew, this hit me hard…bringing Esau into focus like this makes it feel immediate, not distant. It’s not just a story anymore…it’s a moment you can feel pressing in. That weight carries all the way through. Powerful piece. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Well written this story with the feel taking a bit of a turn from the biblical Jewish orientation. How is it that a brother would plot to take from his brother his birthright and even so by denying food that should be feely given to any let alone a brother. A sad tale of greed so common to man.

My friend, this moves with reverence and purpose…memory, responsibility, and identity all woven together in a way that feels grounded and sincere. It doesn’t overreach, it just speaks plainly and lets the meaning settle. Really enjoyed this. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Aces without Apology
Tristan Robert Lange said:

Matthew, this builds tension without ever raising its voice…calculation, restraint, and that unshaken center all working together. The focus stays on that calm authority, and it carries the whole piece through. Really enjoyed this. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Well done, your poem explores how true mastery and dominance in such high-pressure scenarios come from composure and insight rather than overt displays of emotion or bravado.

Doggerel Dave said:

Well I never! and no, I never did hear and therefore woz not taken in by any killer koala. \'They\' would have had a hard time convincing me anyway, as I have a picture of thirteen year old Dave cuddling a koala out of Lone Pine Sanctuary Brisbane.
Same could not be said of the Hoop Snake (obvious tenuous links to the ouroboros) Which grabbed tail in mouth and outran any young pommy trying to escape...

Beware the Branch Above
Tristan Robert Lange said:

Matthew, this balances tension and playfulness perfectly…that unseen threat hanging just above, paired with a rhythm that keeps pulling you back into it. It feels like a legend you half believe and half laugh at. I’ve had that same mix of unease and amusement reading it. And honestly…Damn, I wouldn’t want to be a Kookaburra in an ol’ gum tree with that thing up there! LOL! Well written, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Tristan Robert Lange said:

Matthew, there’s a reflective thread running through this…not just showing the form, but what it does to perception. It moves from structure into experience, letting the reader sit in that stillness. Thoughtful, focused, and it lands. Powerful write. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
