the hardest thing to do isn\'t dying.

\'Knowing, that their time is short.
But not so short, as to ease their pain.\'
what a heart wrenchingly emotive, dedication you\'ve penned, dear poet
(I\'ll hope for the best, for your younger brother and pray you find the strength to survive, if the worst comes to pass)
I\'m so sorry for your loss and the suffering you\'re currently enduring, but I\'m proud to witness your fight, to maintain some semblance of perspective and control in your life, with such expressive and brave write\'s like this, stay strong!
(I have said it a few times, but
never having had a brother, I\'ve always felt a void in my life
and yet, when I consider what it must feel like, to have that presence in your life and then have it taken from you
even just in theory, its makes me choke, what a heart shattering pain that must be, to endure
twice as much if you actually got-on and cherished each other.)
still, given the chance
I still wish, I could have had a brother in my life, even if for a short while...

the hardest thing to do isn\'t dying.

I think the hardest thing is different for different people. But losing a loved one is never easy for anyone. My 95 year old father has Alzheimer\'s or Dementia and my sister and I have been watching him go down hill for a few years now. But the past 7 months has been the quickest decline in his memory issues. My sister herself has stress related anxieties and my dad\'s issues are taking a huge toll on her. There are days that I just don\'t know what to do. I want to help her, but I don\'t think she knows how severe her anxieties are. And others all have their own things that are also so difficult to go through. I understand your missing your older brother and concern for your younger brother. Best wishes for you and your family.

Accidental Poet said:

Thought provoking to say the least ep. The next two thousand years, a very inquisitive thought. Imagine someone from year 0 being here in 2021 and the shock upon their face. Much the same would be in year 4,021. Biggest question: will we make it there without killing each other. Or, another virus that we can\'t recover from. And still, if an asteroid doesn\'t wipe us all out. Another 2,000 years is a long time and a lot can happen. I hope mankind can last that long. Great write ep. πŸ‘

How true that at times our dreams bring back past loves and your verse celebrates that most appealingly - - well rhymed and tender and with a super last stanza. I am so glad I caught this little gem e.p. and looking forward to reading more of your work.

Sad I know in some ways, but you can only offer. And occasionally youth will listen, but, I venture, often not. Perhaps, depending on the advice and the occasion –(ie no immediate danger) it is better that way, because what I think of as reality therapy provides the best learning and maybe one of the ways change occurs is through new ideas, new actions….
